There is so much room for improvement with my Morning Pages, but reading this inspired me to keep trying. Do you do yours the way Julia Cameron recommends, first thing in the morning? Or just as soon as you can sit down to do half an hour uninterrupted? I would have to do the 4 am wake up with shots of espresso thing (which I also think is insanity!) to get ahead of the morning craziness in my home. 🫠
Again, there was so much helpful information here!
Oh, I definitely only do them after I get all my kids off to school 😅 So it’s certainly not an everyday thing (especially this season, when they haven’t had much school). I also sometimes do “morning pages” during naptime (which is midday, but my approach to writing during that time is similar)
The most helpful writing resources for me this month are (1) the Cassie Mannes Murray post that gave me fresh take on writing a query letter. It was the first thing that helped me get my query to take on some of the voice of my novel.
Oh, I absolutely love these suggestions! I loved Catherine Baab’s discussion of getting readers to your book event. And Cassie’s posts are always so brilliant, breaking down genres like queries and book jacket copy. Thank you for sharing these! And thank you for being so encouraging!
Absolutely -- I feel exhausted just watching a full reel of her daily schedule. I feel like I have a handful of momfluencers that I snark follow. It's like reality tv -- very very good content.

She’s also how I found YOUR Substack, which is so generous w the helpful transparency.
And (2) Catherine Baab thoughts about connecting with readers through things they already like.

Thanks for the lit mag recommendations at the end. Super useful. Was not aware of either!
I’m so glad it’s useful!
I didn’t know people followed her ironically like me. But…yeah I read that Clean Countertops post recently! Props to Brooke but I…cannot!
